Turn Your Little Girl Into a Princess!

Do you have a little girl that's been very good this year? If she's ready to move up from a toddler room to a room of her own, treat her like the princess she is.

Walls, done in a soft hue, like pink, or yellow or pale lilac, are a perfect start. Window treatments that are long and dreamy are a perfect choice, or even faux window frames that make the window look like a castle’s window. Faux treatments on one wall, or a portion of all walls to look like stone would be a wonderful touch as well!

If you aren’t interested in buying a whole new bed, consider making a canopy that hangs from the ceiling above the bed. This is easily accomplished by either painting, or covering (with batting and fabric) a piece of light but sturdy wood, then attaching “curtains” of fabric to the back and attaching that to the ceiling towards the head of the bed. Little touches in the accessories for the room will go a long way too! Sweet, tiffany style lamps in matching colors, frilly throw pillows, and even a pretty rug are great touches, that won’t break the bank.

Wall hangings are a great idea too. Consider a piece like the Disney Open Edition Print: Cinderella. Cinderella is the ultimate princess as far as most little girls are concerned and what little girl wouldn't love to be a princess too? This print would be a perfect finishing touch for your little princess’ room and give her a great print to gaze at while she lays in her bed and drifts off to sleep.

A Real Collectible Conversation Piece

An artwork is more than just something to take up a little space on your wall or blend the colors in your interior decor. Another way to use art is to collect pieces that either speak to you through their use of color or content or get a piece that is thought provoking and will be a conversation piece.

Steve hanks has an outstanding piece in his limited edition print collection is his piece, "Things Worth Keeping". This print is only one in a small series of 95 prints total in the entire series. The print features a series of things that a young girl may have kept in her room until the time she grew up and became a woman.

Items such as a cherished dolls, Cabbage patch dolls, Teddy bears that look like they were loved and played with for years and years are all scattered across a young girl's bed along with all her other carefully saved toys from years gone by. In the middle of the bed is a snoozing newborn baby, who is now the most treasured part of her now adult life.

This piece is done in soft colors and the attention to detail is breathtaking. The print is done on a giclee print and will be a brilliant addition to any art collection. This is a fun print to look at the detail given to the items within and remembering when you saw these toys as a child.
Now that's art!

Tips for Giving Art as a Gift

Some people are a little apprehensive about giving an artwork as a gift as they envision giving only a huge painting being unwrapped by the recipient. Giving the gift of art doesn't have to a big and bulky painting in an enormous frame that is going to take up precious wall space in the recipient's home.

If you want to give someone a gift of art, you can get them a small print or sculpture piece that will not be a huge space commitment on the wall and will look stylish as well.
You can choose from fine art, whimsical pieces that will bring a smile to the recipient every time they see it on their wall or go for a personalized piece that allows you to enter a phrase that means something to the both of for a truly one of a kind piece of art.

If your gift recipient is a collector of a particular artist or liked a certain animal such as cats, pigs or fish, you can get them an art piece that will meld right in with what they love to collect. Another great way to give a gift of art is to have it ready to hang. Buy the piece and have the frame, mat and glass already on the piece so all your recipient has to do is find a place on their wall for the artwork.

Sculptures can be wrapped in a pretty scarf that is a gift as well or if you got a sculpture that will allow it, put a big, fat red bow on the sculpture and watch the receiver bust into a grin.

There are so many ways to give art; if you need some holiday ideas use these tips to get the best gift for that hard to buy for person on your holiday list!

Bad Apples....

One of the most memorable scenes in the movie, "Snow White" is when the evil queen assumes the form of an old woman selling apples and gives a poisoned one to Snow White, who eats it and falls into a deep sleep that can only be awakened by a kiss from her true love.

This scene has been brought to life by artist John Alvin in this limited edition series of 195, each is signed by the artist. John has designed and illustrated some of the world's most recognizable cinema art. Our Love of Innocence

It's hard to deny that pets can become an integral part of a family. Puppies are hard to deny with their innocent looks and playful spirits. For those that love animals, a painting or picture can be the perfect gift. Suellen Ross's Limited Edition Print: "Softspot", says it all. Not only does it remind us of the love we feel for animals, it also makes us all think of that favorite chair we can never somehow seem to part with.

Her special talent and obvious love for animals, allows her to paint scenes that are realistic and emotional. They're the subtle everyday scenes of life that we can easily take for granted if not careful. We can all relate to our favorite pet napping lazily in our favorite reading chair. Somehow, we never have the heart to make it leave. Oh well! We'll just have to get there first the next time.

Art can affect our environments tremendously. To many, a house doesn't become a home until there is enough art décor in place to balance an overall theme. It makes the goal a whole lot easier if we have a personal attachment to the art's subject matter too. Art that is loved and embraced will always make the perfect gift, either for the ones we care about or ourselves. The best part is that it only takes a moment to be thoughtful and caring enough to give the perfect gift.

A Legend Continues

Talent quite often runs in the family. Being exposed to those that are gifted and creative, often gives children a privileged peek at the possibility of things to come. Many kids that grow up in the shadows of famous parents often have a unique struggle of finding their own voice and expression in life. Quite often, these kids do choose a similar field that their parents excelled in, and this can make life even more of a personal challenge for them.

Harrison Ellenshaw, son of famed Disney master artist Peter Ellenshaw, is one such sibling that managed to carve out his own niche in the world of art. Peter Ellenshaw won an academy award for his work with Disney, and was nominated five additional times. Growing up, the younger Ellenshaw was intimidated by his Father's talent, and thought he would never live up to it.

As both a filmmaker and visual effects artist, Harrison Ellenshaw has done extremely well for himself, and this is evident by his creativity and obvious talent in the Handsigned and Numbered Limited Edition Giclee on Canvas: "Alice Floating Into Wonderland". This would make the perfect gift for anyone into phantasm-art. It's actually quite a conversation piece as well. The colors are bold and daring, and the story line of Alice in Wonderland is one that we can all relate to no matter what the age.

You can also choose to discover the other works of Harrison Ellenshaw, which can serve to augment any fine arts collection.

Art - Functionally Pretty

Artworks are more than just pretty pieces to hang on your walls. They can also be used as functional pieces to tie in colors, harmonize the room or add balance. There are a lot of great tricks you can do with various artworks to make them perform the dual function of looking great on your walls as well as tying together colors and patterns.

If you have a soft decor that done in a French Country style, consider adding a rustic floral design or country look rooster such as a Charles Wysocki open edition print of a rooster pulling a cart full of country fresh items. Rooster Expressis done in two different styles to match any taste. You can choose to have the print or a canvas reproduction. The prints are double matted and framed; the canvas artwork is framed and both pieces are done using archival tapes and papers as well as arriving ready to hang.

Another great way to incorporate colors into your decor is to use an area rug that catches some of the main colors in your artworks on your wall. This will really make the color scheme in your decor flow.

You can use artworks so many ways to make your room look brighter, livelier or just add a whimsical touch to show your own personal sense of humor with your choice in artworks. Use these tips and brighten your interior!

Walk with Divinity

Faith in a person's life can be a powerful force, and is often a matter of each individual finding it for his or her self. Greg Olson captures the spirit of Faith perfectly in his moving painting: "In His Light". The innocence of a child looks up into the face of Christ, and depicts the perfect balance of a spiritually filled life. There is a soft glow about the head of the Master, and you can feel the concern, patience, and gentleness in which he phrases his answer for the young child.

Religious art can make a great gift to those you care about. It's a perfect way of saying you care and respect how they choose to live and practice their faith. Many people choose to surround themselves with the type of artwork that best express who and what they are when it comes to their spirituality. Some of the objects of expression include statues, paintings, candles, and in some cases-nothing at all. There are millions of people that find their very own unique expression of spirituality by being close to the wide-open spaces of nature.

Of course, if you decide to give a religious gift, the gift will depend on an individual's belief in God, and the religion they choose to practice. Greg Olson has spend a lifetime painting spiritual themes, and his works will make the perfect gift for any believer. And, they make the perfect centerpiece for any home or office décor.

The Man and the Mouse

The work of Walt Disney is recognized and loved the world over. The story of Walt Disney is a tale we've all internalized, no matter what the profession or calling in life. This is the man that brought animation to life for millions of people the world over. Perhaps his greatest legacy is that he pioneered the field of animation, and found new ways to educate and teach.

It's hard to imagine a world without Walt Disney, and the entertainment world-as we know it! The entertainment world, beyond doubt, is the one medium most influenced by his time spent on earth. His unique views and visions were always seeded in the fond memories of the past, and the enduring persistence to reveal to the world the possibilities of what the future might bring.

For 43 years, his career in Hollywood spawned the development of the motion picture industry, and he truly established himself as a very real and integral part of Americana. His humble beginnings on the family farm obviously helped to fertilize his enormous imagination. As he dabbled in art, his talents blossomed and grew. To tell his life story, here, would seem unjust to such a brilliant and inventive soul. But the one thing we can all agree on; is that his life represented the realness of the innate possibilities we all possess.

And years later, even after becoming immensely famous, the gentleness of his life never changed. To the world, he will be best remembered as the "Man and the Mouse". You can own this wonderful Walt Disney Limited Edition Giclee on Photo Paper today-and honor one of the most talented and imaginative minds of modern times.

Art Collecting Just for Fun

With the release of the much-hyped Simpson's Movie a limited edition giclee depicting Homer and Bart on a bike is a natural choice for all of you Simpson's fans.

This piece would be a wonderful gift for any art collector, whether they are into that type of medium or subject or not. The mere fact that it is a limited edition, only 195 pieces, is enough to make it a collector's item. Add the unusual subject matter and it is sure to be a centerpiece for many gatherings and conversations.

It would also be an ideal addition to a game room or den that has been decorated with a tendency towards cartoons and comedy. Or, as the centerpiece for one wall with many of the same types of subjects displayed around it. Or the focal point with other Simpson paraphernalia included in the display.

Its fun subject matter would make it an appropriate "first" piece for someone just starting out in the art-collecting world. Or for the collector that has an eye for comedy and loves this type of unusual art. Also, it would be a wonderful gift for a child to hang in their room. To them it is just fun as a Simpson's print, yet you know that as a limited edition it is also an investment in their future. Not to mention that it may be the start of a tradition of art collecting in the family.

Whatever the reason for collecting this art, it is something that can be enjoyed by many people for generations to come.

Helping Your Child Sleep Through the Night

When your child makes the transition from the crib to a "bid kid bed"; your toddler that could normally sleep through almost any noise made in his presence may suddenly become a fitful sleeper.

Make sure he's not too hot or too cold first of all. Toddlers can't always verbalize that they are uncomfortable but you can quickly tell if he needs more covers or less.

Other children get frightened by shapes and shadows on the wall. Making sure no lights are coming in through his curtains will eliminate that problem and another solution is to give your child a night light that comes on when the lights go off. You can also turn on a light in his closet and leave it on although some children are more disturbed about having their closet door opened in their room when they are trying to sleep than the original lights and shadows on their walls from cars outside on the streets.

You can also give your child a comfort item. This can range from a favorite toy to a favorite blanket and some parents use focal point as the comfort item. Using a focal point means giving the child an item such as a print or poster to look at until they fall asleep. A limited edition artwork from Disney is a great choice and you can choose prints from several of your child's favorite movies, Many of them are detailed and have a good deal for your child to look at in the artwork.

It's easy to get your little one to sleep through the night if he's previously been a good sleeper. Just get him into a routine such as a bath and then brushing teeth and then a story every night and he'll soon settle in to his new bed and will be sleeping the entire night away before you know it.

Getting Your Children Interested In Art Early On

Have you happened to notice that your child seems to be taking quite an interest in how their room is decorated at home? Sometimes children are longing for something a little extra in terms of expressing themselves through their decor. When you find that your son or daughter is looking to have a say in the design and decor that goes into their bedroom, you might want to let them explore and see what happens.

It is true that you are never too young or too old to be interested in art. As a matter of fact, introducing your children to art at a very early age can help them tremendously in terms of creativity. Because art is such a lovely way to express yourself, it is no wonder why so many children become interested in all of the aspects of art. When you find that there is a gallery showing in your local area, why not see about bringing your child along with you? Don't be afraid to talk with them about all of the colors and different styles on display!

When it comes to their room at home, a terrific idea is letting your child choose the color palette. In addition to that, you can always go the extra mile by letting them choose some incredible framed prints to hang on their walls. They might even be interested in a couple of small sculpture pieces. Art can be a great way to not only open up your child's mind, but a terrific way for the two of you to bond as well.
